Tripura will observe the Har Ghar Tiranga programme from August 9 to 17 as part of the nationwide initiative, with various events planned across the state, officials said on Tuesday.
A preparatory meeting was held at the state secretariat under the chairmanship of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Kiran Gitte to discuss arrangements for the programme.
Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya said this year's Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations would be organised to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the composition of the national song "Vande Mataram". He also briefed officials about the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Culture for organising the programme.
During the meeting, Gitte suggested organising activities including Har Ghar Tiranga rallies, Tiranga concerts, selfie points based on the national flag theme, Tiranga rangoli competitions and special exhibitions on the Tiranga and Vande Mataram.
He also advised government departments to take initiatives for illuminating government offices, private buildings and important locations as part of the celebrations.
Officials said arrangements would also be made for the sale of national flags at government offices, markets and other prominent locations. Self-help groups, along with the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission (TUML), will assist in the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Information Technology Department Director J. Rahul G.B., TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma, School Education Department Director Dr Samit Roy Chowdhury, Higher Education Department Director Animesh Debbarma and other officials of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
District magistrates from various districts also participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
