BJP mounts counter-attack on Congress and CPI (M) on DGP suicide issue, cites many past incidents

The ruling BJP has launched a counter-attack on the opposition Congress and CPI (M) on the issue of the suspected suicide of former DGP Anurag Dhankhar in the wash-room attached to his official chamber on July 21. As part of this the BJP MLA from Amarpur Ranjit Das, party general secretary Bipin Debbarma and spokesperson Sunit Sarkar today held a press conference in the state headquarter of the party .

While speaking to media persons the three BJP leaders charged the opposition with making false and cooked up accusations on the issue. “The DGP who was a perfect gentleman had very cordial relation with the government; it is really tragic that his hanging dead body was recovered from the wash-room attached to his chamber and later it was proved by post-mortem that he had committed suicide for whatever reasons but now the CPI (M) and the Congress are trying to capitalise on this issue for political gains ; what can be more deplorable” asked Ranjit , Bipin and Sunit.

“The trouble is that during the long misrule of the left front hundreds of Congress workers had been murdered in a pre-planned manner by the killer squads of CPI (M); there were two consecutive riots and thousands of people including security forces were killed by militants but CPI (M) did nothing ; the Congress which used to make all kinds of allegations of wrong doing by the CPI (M) have now become allies with the CPI (M) merely for power and are making wild allegations” said Ranjit . Describing the allegations as ‘wild’ he said that people still remember what happened during the disastrous five year misrule of the Congress-TUJS coalition government.

“There were huge corruption during the long left front rule and the brief five year misrule of Congress ; there were three lottery scams under Nripen Chakraboty, Samir Ranjan Barman and Badal Chowdhury and not even an inquiry was done; there were countless other scams and corruptions but no inquiry happened in a single case and now they are crying hoarse over a non-issue” said Ranjit Das . He also attacked Congress MLA and CWC member Sudip Roybarman as a ‘Dal Badlu’ whose sole but impractical ambition is to become the chief minister but this will never be fulfilled. “We still remember the recovery of a skeleton from the official residence of the chief minister, recovery of weapons from brick kiln and physical assault on a colonel ; the people of Tripura will never allow these things to happen again” said Ranjit . He added that the people of the state are fully aware of what the opposition is doing and what they are up to and all these ‘mischievous attempts’ will fall flat.
