Flurry of unnatural deaths over past twenty four hours , one lynching and two suicides

The menace of unnatural deaths-either by murder or by suicides-continues to haunt different parts of Tripura. During the past twenty four hours three youths have fallen to deaths by murder and suicides, as reported by police sources. According to details available from police sources, Shubham Debnath (31), a freelance photographer, was found hanging death in the living room of his home at Datta Para area in Aralia under the East Agartala police station. Speaking to media persons Shubham’s elder brother Rupam said that he had duly returned home last night and went to sleep after taking dinner . Since did not rise till late in the morning Shubham’s family members called him out and then broke him in to see Shubham hanging dead. The police personnel in College Tilla police outpost was informed but the elder brother could not cite the reason for his younger brother’s suicide.

In another mysterious incident another youth named Suman Debnath (27) was lynched to death yesterday in his home at Ranir Gaon area under Ranir Bazar police station. Suman who was casual worker who used to earn his living by doing odd jobs was alone at home yesterday in the afternoon when a gang of suspected miscreants stormed into his house and beat him to death . This version was given by his elder brother Rupam Debnath who said that at time of lynching his younger brother was alone at home and non one had seen the attackers . A case of murder has been registered by police.

In yet another incident Bishal Das (24), a young resident of Durgabari BOC area under Bamutia committed suicide last night after being insulted and threatened by the mother of his beloved. His elder brother Bimal Das said that Bishal had been in love with a girl in the same area and she visited his paternal home also . But the recently the girl’s mother insulted Bishal and threatened to frame him in a case of theft of Rs 20 thousand unless he cut off the relationship. Feellng insulted and humiliated , Bishal went back home last night and consumed poison. After his lifeless body was discovered by his family members from his living room they took him to local primary health centre but the doctor in charge there declared Bishal ‘brought dead’. Bishal’s suicide has cast a shadow of grief and mourning in the entire area.
