Professor Debabrata Das takes over as Vice Chancellor of Tripura Central University

Senior Professor Dr Debabrata Das, already appointed as new vice chancellor of Tripura Central University (TCU) formally took over his charge yesterday in an informal ceremony in the university chamber. The acting vice chancellor Professor Shyamal Das formally handed over charge to the new VC in presence of registrar of the TCU Dr Samir Kumar Shil, finance officer Debasish Paul and other officials of the university.

Having taken over his responsibility the new VC professor Debabrata Das held a meeting with all the heads of departments of various subjects and senior administrative officials. He urged upon all of them to give off their best in order to upgrade the teaching and administrative standard of the university so that it reaches top ranking . “ All my predecessors tried in their own ways to contribute to the university but let us make a new beginning now ; the TCU has slipped lower in all India ranking and this can not be a happy matter , we must all try together to raise our ranking so that our university becomes a coveted institution for education and research to the entire country” said professor Debabrata Das. He also promised to look into all the problems of the university for solution and sought sincere co-operation from all and thanked all the students, teachers and administrative staff.

Later in the evening the new VC who came here , accompanied by his wife Manurani Bora, visited the temple of ‘Mata Tripureshwari’ and offered ‘Puja’ there before coming back to Agartala . In the coming days he will also call on the chief minister Dr Manik Saha who also holds the education portfolio as well as the governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu who is closely connected ex officio with the affairs of the Tripura Central University (TCU).
