The massive countrywide furore over donation scam (Chanda Chori) in the Ram Mandir temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh having already cast a deep shadow , the DM (Gomati) Rinku Lather who is the ex officio ‘Yajman’ of the Mata Tripureshwari temple in Udaipur has taken extreme care and precaution for the counting of donation in cash and kind in the Udaipur temple which is one of the 51 holiest Hindu shrines across the sub-continent. Sources from Udaipur said that the DM had constituted a 17-member team and entrusted them with the responsibility for the onerous job of counting.
Speaking on the matter the deputy collector Chandra Sekhar Chatterjee said that the task of counting by the team had commenced around 10-00 in the morning today and will continue till the counting is over , expectedly by this evening. He said that the 17 donation boxes in the temple had been last opened on May 18 this year and on that occasion and total donation amount of Rs 20.52 lakhs had been found. This donation amount also included foreign exchange which means footfall of a number of foreigners comprising devotees and tourists also. This clearly means that ‘Mata Tripureshwari’ temple is now an attractive centre of tourism as well as pilgrimage.
“We have taken all precautions and are strictly following all rules in counting the donation ; extremely tight security has also been taken to ensure safety ; the job is likely to be over by 7-00 in the night today” said Chandra Sekhar Chatterjee. He added that as in the past there will be no complaint or allegation in counting of donations to the holy temple as all those deployed for the job are exceedingly pious, conscientious and reliable.
