Tripura Jal Board Wins Prestigious SKOCH Gold Award 2026 for Innovative Water Management Initiative

In a significant achievement for Tripura's water management sector, the Tripura Jal Board (TJB) has been conferred the prestigious SKOCH Award 2026 (Gold) for its outstanding project titled “AMRUT Mitra under AMRUT 2.0 Scheme / Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance within Agartala AMC Area.”

The award was presented during a ceremony held on June 20, 2026, at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi. Shri Mihir Kanti Gop, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of Tripura Jal Board, received the award from the Chairman of the SKOCH Group on behalf of the organization.

Recognition for Community-Centric Water Governance

The award recognizes the successful implementation of the innovative “Women for Water, Water for Women” initiative under the AMRUT Mitra programme. The project has actively involved women belonging to Self Help Groups (SHGs) in various aspects of water service delivery and quality monitoring across Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas.

Under the initiative, SHG members have been entrusted with several important responsibilities, including:

Collection of water taxes through Point of Sale (POS) machines.

Doorstep collection of water samples and quality testing using Field Testing Kits (FTKs).

Consumer grievance facilitation and public awareness generation.

Promotion of water conservation and sustainable water management practices.
