Tripura continued to experience intense heat and humid weather on Thursday, with Agartala recording the highest maximum temperature in the state at 37.0 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Agartala. The temperature was 3.8 degrees Celsius above normal, indicating the persistence of unusually warm conditions across the state.

The IMD's realised temperature report for June 4 revealed that the maximum temperature in Agartala increased by 0.4 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day. Meanwhile, Kailashahar recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 26.4 degrees Celsius, which was still 2.1 degrees Celsius above normal. The minimum temperature also registered a rise of 0.2 degrees Celsius from the previous day.

Meteorologists noted that both daytime and nighttime temperatures remain significantly above seasonal averages, contributing to uncomfortable weather conditions, particularly in urban and low-lying areas. The combination of high temperatures and elevated humidity levels is likely to increase heat stress among residents.

The latest weather outlook issued by the IMD indicates that maximum temperatures across Tripura are likely to remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal for the next one to two days, while minimum temperatures may stay 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal before gradually returning to near-normal levels.

The weather office has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, drink adequate water, wear light cotton clothing and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
