Serious allegations have emerged against the officer in charge of GBP police outpost R.Debnath who is putting pressure on a couple for withdrawing court cases against an errant promoter named Surendra Malakar. The allegation was voiced in a conversation with the media persons by Gourdas Deb and his wife Supriya Saha Deb who had purchased an apartment in the three storied building at GB 79 tilla area from promoter Surendra Malakar. The couple said that , despite verbal agreement, the promoter had not completed basic furnishing work in their newly purchased flat in which there were many other defects also.

When their repeated pleas to the promoter to set things right fell flat the couple filed a cases with the consumer court and Real Estate Authority (REA). Even though the cases are pending disposal the promoter Surendra Malakar and his wife created fresh trouble with Gourdas Deb and his wife Supriya Saha Deb on the issue of fitting CCTV in front of their flat. The couple alleged that after they had installed the CCTV , Surendra Malakar and his wife protested this without any rhyme or reason and broke down the CCTV.

But things took a bizarre turn when the couple reached the GBP police outpost to file a written complaint against Surendra Malakar and his wife as the officer in charge of the GBP outpost R.Debnath tried to dissuade them from filing the complaint and also pressured them to withdraw their cases against Surendra Malakar filed in the consumer court and Real Estate Authority. “ Unless you withdraw your cases against Surendra Malakar and desist from filing complaint here the consequences will be serious for you ; you may even be murdered because Surendra Malakar is a powerful and influential man who can do any thing with impunity” said OC R.Debnath to the couple. Gourdas Deb and his wife Supriya Saha Deb who had received death threats from Surendra Malakar already returned from the GBP outpost with broken hearts and told the media persons that they were scared of being murdered by Surendra Malakar any time. They drew the attention of higher police authority through media to their plight , appealing for corrective action.
