Ten panchayat chieves invade BDO office in Amarpur , misbehave with the BDO

In a bizarre incident altogether 10 chieves of as many panchayats today invaded the office of the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Amarpur demanding immediate initiative to expedite implementation of all pending development projects in their panchayats. Sources from Amarpur said that for quite a long time work on all development projects at the panchayat level has remained stalled and the elected chiefs of panchayats are under tremendous pressure from the local people in their areas to ensure restarting of the pending works including payment of bills of works already completed.

Around 11-00 this morning altogether ten panchayat chieves appeared in the Amarpur block office and entered the BDO’s chamber . They sought an explanation from the incumbent BDO Sanjib Debnath as to why the development works had come to a standstill and why bills for completed works were not being paid up by the BDO office. They also pointed out that during the incumbency of former BDO Utpal Das there was no such problem but soon after his transfer all works came to a grinding halt . Even though the BDO Sanjib Denath had tried to explain the problems besetting the issuance of work orders and payment of bills , he was shouted down by the irate panchayat chieves.

Even though a number of journalists were standing there with cameras to shoot the entire episode the panchayat chieves continued their tirade against BDO Sanjib Debnath and demanded that all development works be resumed and payment of pending bills started for the benefit of people . The BDO tried to reason with the angry panchayat chieves but failed though finally the ten panchayat chieves left the office of the BDO after warning him of consequences unless their demands were met.
