Measles awareness rally held in Kailasahar to resist infection of the disease

Fear of infection of viral measle disease ,specially among children , has been growing in Tripura following a major outbreak in Bangladesh over the past five months. According to authentic reports reaching here altogether 588 children have died of the disease in different parts of Bangladesh while countrywide infection of 72,070 children has been recorded.
Keeping the fear in mind a prominent social organization that has been working in the health sector under the banner of ‘Be Fit and Make Others Fit’ this morning organized a big awareness rally about possible attack of measles in Kailasahar town , headquarter of Unakoti district. The rally had started from the front side of Unakoti Kalakshetra at 7-00 in the morning and meandered through different parts of the town before converging back to the place where it had commenced from .
Apart from the heads of the NGO, the members, prominent citizens , health volunteers affiliated with the organisations took part in the rally, carrying placards putting people on alert against possible infection of measle and urging them to inoculate their children through vaccination. The rally was later addressed by the chairperson of the Kailasahar municipality Chapala Debroy and Dr Sandipan Bhattacharjee who in their speeches explained how attack of measle can be prevented through vaccination programme and how it can turn out to be dangerous unless timely treatment or preventive vaccination is given. The speakers urged all the guardians to ensure that their children are inoculated in time against possible infection of measle.
