Second statewide Lok Adalat of the year to come off on May 9, Saturday

The second statewide Lok Adalat of the current year is scheduled to come off on next Saturday, that is on May 9. Besides the high court of Tripura hearing of cases registered for Lok Adalat will be held in all district and subdivisional courts across the state. A press note issued in this regard by V.P.Debbarma, member-secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), said that altogether 25,515 cases will come up for hearing and disposal in 46 benches across the state.

The total figure includes 20,779 cases pending in various courts and 4735 pre-litigation cases that will come up for hearing and settlement. Regarding the nature of the cases to be heard the statement said that 347 cases relate to various accidents, 197 cases of marital disputes, 4485 cases of default in payment of bank loans, 250 cases relating to BSNL bills, arbitrable criminal cases numbering 20,184, 27 cases of cheque bounce, 5 civil suits , 5 cases of arbitration , 3 commercial suits and 11 cases of service-related matters will be heard and decided by the statewide ‘Lok Adalat’courts.

According to the statement issued by TSLSA, petitioners and respondents in all the cases have already been served notices and Justice T.Amarnath Hour of high court who is in charge of Lok Adalat matters has issued instructions to all concerned for ensuring success of the Lok Adalat proceedings . The member-secretary of TSLSA V.P.Debbarma have also made an appeal to all litigants to take advantage of Lok Adalat services for having their disputes resolved free of cost.
