Bhabaranjan Reang was on Tuesday sworn in as the new Chairman of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), replacing senior leader Jagadish Debbarma. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the ADC headquarters in the presence of newly elected MDCs.
CEM-elect Runiel Debbarma and Executive Member CK Jamatia are scheduled to take oath on Wednesday.
Following the ceremony, Tipra Motha leaders, accompanied by MLA Ranjit Debbarma and Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma, met Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu at Lok Bhavan. The delegation invited the Governor to attend the upcoming swearing-in of the new executive body.
Describing the meeting as a courtesy call, Runiel Debbarma said the Governor was informed about the party’s internal decision to elect its leadership. He added that the Governor assured a visit to ADC areas, including remote villages lacking basic infrastructure and connectivity, and promised necessary support.
Reang criticised what he termed as “cheap politics” over funding issues of the TTAADC, reiterating that allocations remain inadequate and challenging critics to substantiate any contrary claims legally.
Outlining his priorities, he said the focus would be on improving essential services, particularly education, healthcare and drinking water, within the available resources.
