The first round of counting for the Tripura ADC Elections 2026 has placed Tipra Motha Party (TMP) in a commanding position, leading in 24 out of 28 constituencies, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in 4 seats like Silachari, Kanchanpur, Machmara and Chowmonu seats. Counting results in many constituencies are currently withheld due to emerging law and order concerns.

According to initial trends, TMP has established strong leads across key tribal belt constituencies, indicating a significant early advantage. BJP, however, has maintained leads in select pockets like Silachari, Kanchanpur, Chowmonu and Machmara constituencies, keeping the contest poorly competitive.

Constituency-wise First Round Lead (Key Highlights):

TMP is leading in major constituencies including Damburnagar-Jampui, Manu-Chailengta, Demchhara-Kachuchhara, Gandachhara, Asharambari, Kulai-Champahour, Maharani-Teliamura, Simna-Tamakari, Jirania, Mandainagar-Pulinpur, Karbook areas, Amarpur belt, and several others.

BJP is ahead in Machmara, Dasda-Kanchanpur, Chhawmanu and Silachhari-Manubankul constituencies.

Serious tension was reported from the counting centre at Bishalgarh and Khowai’s Ramchandraghat constituency. A heated argument broke out over seating arrangements, escalating into a major confrontation. The BJP candidate reportedly became furious and directly confronted the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), Amit Jamatia, who was subsequently removed from the counting centre following objections raised by the candidate.

Adding to the controversy, Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma alleged that the Khowai District Administration was working in favour of a particular political party. Despite the tensions, he expressed confidence that Tipra Motha would secure victory.

In a significant development, counting has been temporarily suspended in the 19-Amtali-Golaghati constituency amid fears of deterioration in law and order. Officials cited security concerns as the primary reason behind halting the process.

In another incident, a block-level official from Padmabil was reportedly removed from a counting centre by the Returning Officer following complaints raised by a contesting candidate.

The situation across multiple counting centres remains sensitive, with security tightened to prevent escalation. Election authorities are closely monitoring developments, and further rounds of counting are expected to provide a clearer picture of the final outcome.

As of now, Tipra Motha appears firmly on track for a decisive lead, though the final results will depend on subsequent rounds of counting and resolution of disputes in affected constituencies.
