Growing concerns are being voiced over the deteriorating condition of colleges in Tripura under the current BJP administration, with even supporters of the ruling party expressing dissatisfaction over campus safety and administration.
A serious allegation has emerged from BBM College, where a student named Rhythm Das was reportedly assaulted by a group of outsiders during college hours. According to a complaint lodged by a concerned guardian, nearly forty intoxicated youths allegedly entered the college premises and created chaos.
The attackers reportedly called the student into a classroom and physically assaulted him. The injured student, identified as Rhythm Das, is currently undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital.
The guardian further alleged that despite receiving information about the presence of outsiders and the disturbance on campus, the college authorities failed to take immediate action. This inaction has drawn sharp criticism from parents and locals.
Although the police reportedly detained two youths in connection with the incident, they were later released, raising further questions about the handling of the case.
Parents have also questioned how such a large number of outsiders were able to enter the campus during an ongoing clash between two student groups. They have demanded accountability from both the college administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure student safety.
The incident has intensified the debate over campus security and governance in Tripura’s higher education institutions, with many calling for urgent reforms and stricter monitoring to prevent such occurrences in the future.
