Male pro-BJP teacher on extension physically assaults junior female colleague , no action as yet

In a bizarre incident a male teacher, known to be the president of BJP-affiliated ‘Rashtrawadi Karmachari Sangha’ , physically assaulted a female teacher of Umakanta Academy English Medium school on April 2 in the staff common room. No action has been taken in the matter so far though the headmaster of the school Ramkrishna Bhattacharjee held a meeting with the teachers of the school on April 6 but , apart from teachers voicing their protest against the misconduct of the ‘Rashtrawadi’ leader teacher nothing really came of this.

Giving details sources from the school said that Dipen Bhowmik, the ill-tempered president of the ‘Rashtrawadi Karmachari Sangha’ had retired from service as teacher in February this year but then he secured permission from the education department for rendering free service. “He is always known to be an ill-tempered man with a foul tongue and uncouth behavior ; he always ill-teats colleagues including women and threatens them with transfer to remote places but he crossed all limits on April 2” said sources. On that day Dipen Bhowmik who actually deserves to be arrested and jailed abused a much junior female teachers and physically assaulted her in front of other teachers in the staff common room only for protesting his boorish conduct and foul tongue. The name of the assaulted female teacher was not disclosed but sources said that she had practically fainted in the staff room.

The headmaster of the school called a meeting of all teachers on April 6 to discuss the matter but it could not progress because the miscreant Dipen Bhowmik had deliberately skipped the meeting. In the next meeting called yesterday all the teachers , specially the females exposed Dipen Bhowmik’s long history of misconduct and foul behavior with all other teacchers including females and demanded that miscreant Dipen be immediately sacked from service. But even in that meeting Dipen abused all the female teachers and the headmaster of the school , in stead of immediately bringing the matter to the notice of the education directorate , formed a three member committee of female teachers to file a detailed report on the activities of Dipen Bhowmik. Many teachers however expressed their disappointment and anger over the failure of the head master to take drastic action against miscreant Dipen Bhowmik.
