The CSP employees attached to Dumbur Nagar block yesterday locked up the Dumbur Nagar block office following non-payment of salaries to them by the departmental authority. As many as 200 employees of the Dumbur Nagar block-all women and mostly tribals- have not received salary over the past seven months because of the gross negligence and totally irresponsible behavior of the departmental higher authority .
Sources from Dumbur Nagar said that all 200 employees had come to office in time and locked up the block office after finding that their salaries had not been paid . Speaking to media persons a senior employee Nishima Debbarma said that they had been repeatedly given assurance by block authority over the past seven months that salaries would be paid but no salary has come to their accounts. She said that the ‘Gariya’ and ‘Biju’ festivals are ahead and they can not do without salary now and that is why as a mark of protest they have been forced to close down the office.
“We had to do additional works for forty five days but no payment has been made even for this though we were supposed to be given Rs 5 thousand additional amounts for this ;now this office will remain closed until are salaries are given” said Nishima. She added that they had been told by block office that closing it will not serve any purpose and they needed to go to higher authority but she added that they come to work from distant places and it is not possible to reach the so-called higher authority . “We will never allow this office to be reopened until our salaries are cleared” Nishima asserted.
