Lok Adalat in Khowai, 3034 cases come up for hearing and disposal

For the second time in the current a mega Lok Adalat is being held in courts of Khowai to resolve and dispose of altogether 3034 cases of various categories . In the first Lok Adalat of the year held in Khowai on February 14 as many as 1363 cases had been disposed of to the satisfaction of contending parties .

“For the cases that will come up for hearing today summons were issued in almost hundred cases ; so we hope that the disposal or reconciliation rate will be higher” said Aparajita Debbarma, member-secretary of the Khowai district legal aid service authority. She said that the purpose behind holding of Lok Adalats as frequently as possible is to ensure speedy delivery of justice to the satisfaction parties engaged in litigations over common matters. Today’s Lok Adalat is being held at th,e initiative of district legal aid service authority and the national legal aid service authority.

Aparajita said that the cases being heard today in the Lok Adalant relate to Motor Accident, Cheque Bounce, matters under Negotiable Instruments Act, reconcilable criminal cases pending in courts, bank loan cases, MV act cases, police cases under excise and gambling acts etc. She asserted that most of the cases would be settled in the Lok Adalat courts.
