Rebati lashes out at Tipra Motha’s populist programme before ADC polls

Former BJP MP (East Tripura) and senior tribal leader of the party Rebati Tripura has lashed out at what he called ‘reckless populism’ of Tipra Motha in the run-up to the ADC elections next month. He was referring to the latest programme announced by Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore of setting up a community-specific public halls for all twenty tribal communities of the state in different areas under the ADC . As part of this Pradyot Kishore laid the foundation stone for a community hall in remote Jagabandhu para area under Gandacherra subdivision yesterday for the Tripuri ( Noatia) community predominant there.

“This foundation stone laying by the ‘Motha’ chief is nothing but a pre-poll gimmick which will never materialise into realilty; they have done nothing for the tribal people over the past five years after capturing the ADC in 2021 and now they are on a foundation stone laying spree to hoodwink the people” said Rebati. He also described this as ‘crude joke’ because the ADC is yet to give salaries to its employees this month so far on the false ground that the state government has not released fund. “At a time when the ADC headed by Tipra Motha is unable to pay salaries to serving employees and pensionary benefits to retired employees they are indulging in pre-poll gimmicks to take people for a ride” said Rebati in a conversation with media persons.

He also rued the fact that the ADC had been formed in 1982 and upgraded to 6th schedule in 1985 to ensure economic development and political development of the tribal people through preservation of their distinctive cultural and linguistic identities but Tipra Motha has been destroying the very foundations of the ADC . “Actually anyone in touch with the ADC or aware of what is going on there knows how unbridled corruption reigns supreme there ; public funds given by the state government to ADC authority to fulfil their constitutionally mandated tasks is being looted indiscriminately and very soon it will collapse in case Tipra Motha is given a free run” said Rebati . He added that the dark era of collective plundering by Tipra Motha in ADC will soon come to an end as the BJP will win the next elections there.
