Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Tuesday alleged that salaries of employees of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) had not been released ahead of Holi and termed the delay “moral corruption”.
In a social media address, Debbarman claimed that as of Tuesday afternoon, salaries had not been credited to TTAADC staff, including employees on deputation from the state government. He said the delay had caused concern as the festival would be celebrated on Wednesday.
Debbarman alleged that the file for release of funds was pending in the office of Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma and accused him of withholding funds meant for salaries and allowances. He said political differences should not affect council employees.
He also referred to village-level elections under the TTAADC, alleging attempts to delay the process and noting that the matter had reached the Supreme Court.
There was no immediate response from the state government or the Tribal Welfare Minister to the allegations.
