Despite the exit of the oppressive and communal Yunus regime in Bangladesh, followed by take-over of power by BNP in troubletorn Bangladesh, the repression and hounding of Hindu minorities show no sign of abating . There have been no killings over the past one month but forced displacement of Hindus , looting and forcible occupation of land and vandalisation of temples continue unabated .
In the latest outrage a family temple owned by Narayan Bhowmik (55) in Tulatoli village under Dagonbhuinya police station in Pheni district was burnt down by a gang of Muslim miscreants of the area around 12-30 last night. Before setting the temple afire the criminals had looted all the items including cymbal, bells and utensils and cash donation given by devotees . Waked up by sounds and heat from the fire Narayan Bhowmik tried to douse the fire to minimise the damage , calling for help from people but could do precious little to salvage the temple. It was reduced to ashes in front of his eyes .
Sources from Pheni said that Narayan Bhowmik had filed a complaint with the Dagonbhuiyan police station but so far there has been no arrest in connection with the sacrilegious crime. There is also very little possibility of the culprits involved in the arsoning being ever brought to justice.
