Accident in Bishalgarh, driver chased and caught up by pursuers and beaten up

Bishalgarh subdivisional area of Agartala has emerged not only as a safe haven for crimes but also of road accidents, specially along the bypass road area. Sources from Bishalgarh said that a Cruiser vehicle speeding along the bypass road this afternoon pushed down a passenger-carrying Tom Tom that overturned , injuring all four passengers as well as the driver.

A group of local people rescued the injured passengers as well as the driver and sent them to Bishalgarh hospital while another group of youths gave the fleeing Cruiser vehicle on their motor bikes and finally caught up with it at Charilam . They stopped the vehicle and beat up the driver but intriguingly, they looted and got away with a large quantity of goods packed in a sack in the vehicle.

Finally the police arrived on the spot and seized the vehicle and took it to the Bishalgarh police station. However, police sources said that the goods suspected to be drugs and ‘Ganja’ were yet to be examined but would be put through tests . The injured driver was however sent to hospital and the owner of the vehicle has been summoned to the police station. Sources from Bishalgarh however said that the entire incident was the result of a clash between two groups of drug peddlers and businessmen.
