A 12-year-old schoolgirl from the Damdamia Bhumihin Tila area under Sabroom police station has been reported missing for over a week, triggering widespread concern in the locality.

According to family sources, Dipti Chakraborty, a Class VI student of No. 2 Jalepha Higher Secondary School in Sabroom, left her home on February 23, saying she was going to a friend’s house. However, she did not return home, and despite extensive informal searches by family members and neighbors, no trace of her has been found so far.

After waiting for several days, the minor’s maternal uncle and brother approached the Sabroom police administration and lodged a formal complaint. Police from Sabroom Police Station have since initiated an investigation into the matter.

A teacher-in-charge of the school, Ranjit Chakraborty, told the media, “We have tried to gather information from our end, but there has been no update yet. The Chairperson of the Balika Manch has been informed, and higher authorities have also been notified.”

The incident has created panic and anxiety across the Damdamia Bhumihin Tila area. Local residents have demanded swift and decisive action from the administration to trace the missing girl at the earliest. The family members have also made an emotional appeal to the authorities for her immediate rescue and safe return.

Police officials have assured that all possible steps are being taken to locate the minor, and further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
