The organizing committee of the 36th Tripura Industries & Commerce Fair 2026 has issued an important public notice imposing a strict prohibition on cooking and food preparation activities inside regular exhibition stalls during fair hours.
According to the official order, stall holders are not permitted to cook or heat food items inside their allotted stalls between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM, the designated operational hours of the fair. The restriction has been enforced in view of growing concerns over fire hazards, electrical risks, hygiene issues, and overall public safety.
The notice clearly states that the use of LPG cylinders, electric heaters, induction cooktops, open flames, burners, coal stoves, or any other heating devices inside stalls is strictly prohibited. Authorities have observed that unauthorized cooking activities could lead to serious accidents, create smoke and discomfort for visitors, overload electrical systems, and violate prescribed safety norms.
However, the restriction does not apply to stalls that have been officially allotted and designated as Food Stalls. These stalls are permitted to operate cooking equipment but must strictly comply with all fire safety, electrical safety, and hygiene guidelines issued separately by the authorities.
To ensure compliance, officials from the Department of Industries & Commerce and TIDC Ltd will conduct regular inspections throughout the fair duration. Any violation of the order will invite immediate action, including stoppage of cooking activities, removal of cooking equipment, or disconnection of power supply.
The notice also warns that violators will be subject to a penalty of Rs. 5,000 per instance, and in cases of repeated violations, stalls may be sealed or closed without further notice.
Dr. Deepak Kumar, IAS, Managing Director of TIDC Ltd, has appealed to all participants to cooperate fully with the instructions to maintain a safe, orderly, and visitor-friendly environment at the fair.
The directive has come into force today with immediate effect and will remain applicable for the entire duration of the 36th Tripura Industries & Commerce Fair 2026.
Authorities have requested all stall holders and visitors to extend their cooperation so that the event can be conducted smoothly and safely for everyone involved.
