Tension continued in Hezamara as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a protest rally expressing strong resentment against the Tipra Motha party following the recent clash involving BJP workers. The situation drew administrative attention after Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha issued a stern warning, stating that those responsible for the attack on BJP workers on Wednesday night would not be spared.
In the wake of the Chief Minister’s remarks, the West District’s Acting Superintendent of Police visited Hezamara, the site of the clash, to assess the ground situation and ensure law and order. Senior BJP leader Bipin Debbarma also visited the area. Despite the Chief Minister’s clear warning earlier in the day, there was no report of any arrest till Wednesday evening, adding to the political tension in the area.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Hezamara incident, Tipra Motha party spokesperson Rajeshwar Debbarma addressed the media on Tuesday. He clarified that Tipra Motha does not support any form of unethical or violent activities and strongly condemned the attack. However, he attempted to distance the party from the incident by terming it as an act carried out by a few intoxicated youths. He also appealed for restraint, urging all sides to refrain from such activities in the larger interest of peace and development in the state.
The incident has once again highlighted the fragile political atmosphere in parts of Tripura, with both ruling and regional parties trading allegations as the administration keeps a close watch on the evolving situation.
