Largescale ‘Ganja’ plantations destroyed by police , TSR and BSF in interior areas of Jatrapur police station

In their 12th consecutive anti-‘Ganja; (cannabis) action today , more than 150 jawans of police, TSR and BSF (69th battalion) led by Shiti Kantha Bardhan, Officer in Charge (OC) of Jatrapur police station in Sonamura subdivision today destroyed more than a lakh ‘Ganja’plants reared in 21 plots in an ADC village and an ordinary bordering village. There was no resistance to the destruction programme .

Sources from Sonamura said that the large combined force including jawans of the Kaiatilla border outpost of BSF had first reached the Jagatrampur ADC village and then headed for the jungle area of Taichhama colony. The jawans then destroyed around 60 thousand standing and mature ‘Ganja’ plants spread over 11 spacious plots. After the cutting down process the plants were set on fire with the cultivators and owners of plots staring at the process from distance. No individual or group had come forward to put up any resistance.

This operation being over , the combined force headed for the bordering Kalikrishna Nagar village and destroyed at least 40 thousand more standing and mature ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) plants standing on 10 plots. The entire anti-‘Ganja’ operation was completed smoothly. The OC , Jatrapur police station Shiti Kantha Bardhan said that such operations will continue in future also to put a complete stop to ‘Ganja’ cultivation in the state as per government policy.
