Expansion of higher education,Tripura soon to have Homeopathy and Ayurvedic colleges

Tripura is all set to have a major expansion in the sector of medical education with the proposed launching of a Homeopathic and Ayurvedic college and the Centre has already sanctioned an amount of Rs 140 crores on this head. This was decided in a high level meeting held in the state secretariat under the stewardship of chief minister Dr Manik Saha who also holds the portfolio of higher education after a thorough review of the existing state of affairs in the sector of higher education.
The chief minister was briefed by senior departmental officials that the union Ayush ministry has sanctioned an amount of Rs 140 crores for the proposed Homeopathic and Ayurvedic college. As per the proposal sanctioned a sixty-seat Homeopathic college will be set up at Agartala while another sixty-seat Ayurvedic college will be set up in Gomati district. Dr Saha laid stress on the quality and standard of the colleges to be set up and directed the officials present in the meeting to visit and study reputed Homeopathy and Ayurvedic colleges in other states of the country before going for infrastructure creation work.
The chief minister also asked the officials to pursue the matter in realistic and time-bound manner, keeping in mind standard and quality. He pointed out that at present the people are exposed to multi-pronged challenges in the matter of treatment of diseases caused by such factors and environmental pollution and radiation . “Given this situation , the matter of Homeopathic and Ayurvedic treatment should be given due importance as alternative methods of treatment .
Official sources aware of what transpired in yesterday’s review meeting said that the task of infrastructure creation will be pursued in a time-bound manner on priority basis . In Tripura this will serve a special purpose of helping the poor people living in rural and hilly areas.
