Dead body recovered from boat anchorage on the edge of Khowai river , murder suspected

Secret murders and recovery of dead bodies continue in different parts of the state . In the latest such incident the dead body of a youth bearing visible injury marks was recovered from the ‘Nauka Ghat’ (boat anchorage site) along the river Khowai was recovered this morning from Chakmaghat area under Teliamura subdivision.

Police sources from Teliamura said that early this morning a group of morning walkers along the river caught sight of a young man’s lifeless body lying close to the boat anchorage site in the Khowai river and informed police personnel in Teliamura . A team from Khowai promptly reached the spot and shifted the body to Teliamura hospital for post-mortem. The group of people who had seen the body identified it as that of Bhajan Debnath (35), resident of a nearby village . How the man died and how the dead body reached the spot could not be ascertained.

Police sources from Teliamura said that a forensic test is being conducted on the body to ascertain the mode of the death , apparently a case of murder, from the nature of injury marks . The family members of slain Bhajan Debnath have already been informed and sources added that he was given to consuming country liquor almost every night though by profession he was only a day labourer.
