Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Thursday threatened to file a case in the Supreme Court within a week if the 37 bills passed by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) are not approved by the state government.

Speaking at a special gathering of samajpatis (community leaders) at Ujjayanta Palace on the occasion of Bijoya Dashami and Dusshera, Pradyot Kishore strongly criticized the state government and the Governor for what he termed deliberate inaction on the pending bills. “The bills passed by TTAADC are being kept in cold storage. If this continues, I will be compelled to move the Supreme Court by next week, he asserted.

The event, marked by the traditional ' Hasam Bujan feast', saw Pradyot Kishore invite community leaders and distribute specially made silver coins to symbolize Tripura’s heritage and unity. Emphasizing the importance of respecting Tiprasa dopha and elders, he said, “Respecting our people and our culture is essential for our identity. But at the same time, without land rights, the Tiprasa people will never have true security.”

He alleged that the Tiprasa community remains deprived of land and other constitutional rights due to division within the society. Pradyot claimed that lack of unity has weakened their collective bargaining power and warned, “If samajpatis are not united, nothing will be achieved for the Tiprasa people.”

Targeting the state government’s recent announcement of increasing the honorarium of samajpatis from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000, Pradyot accused many community leaders of compromising their independence for monetary benefits. “This has weakened our traditional institutions. We need unity, not division,” he said.

In a strong appeal to the Tiprasa community, he urged steps to resist religious conversions, warning that shifting towards other religions would eventually erase their cultural identity. “Kindly stop this conversion and stop supporting it, otherwise our identity will vanish soon,” he cautioned.

The Dusshera and Bijoya Dashami feast at Ujjayanta Palace thus turned into both a celebration of tradition and a platform for Pradyot Kishore’s renewed demand for land rights, unity, and protection of Tiprasa identity, coupled with a stern warning of approaching the apex court if the long-pending TTAADC bills are not cleared.
