Even after scanning multiple CCTV camera footages from the Brahmabari Social Development Committee’s Durga Puja pandal and nearby areas, Udaipur police have failed to ascertain the culprits involved in the idol vandalism incident that has shaken the town ahead of the Puja festivities.
The shocking act came to light on last Sunday morning when members of the puja committee found parts of the idol broken. Outrage and resentment quickly spread across the locality, with residents demanding immediate police action.
Following the incident, Gomati District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar and senior officers rushed to the spot, cordoning off the area and deploying a dog squad. Despite intensive searches and the availability of CCTV footage, investigators have not been able to identify the miscreants even after three days.
Community members expressed frustration over the slow progress, pointing out that the presence of several cameras around the pandal should have helped in identifying those responsible. Meanwhile, the puja committee has decided to continue the celebrations with minimal rituals to maintain tradition and avoid further unrest.
Authorities have assured residents that all possible measures are being taken to ensure peace and security during the Durga Puja in Udaipur.
