Resentment is growing among SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) teachers in Tripura after the state government failed to provide them Durga Puja bonus this year, even as private sector employees across the state received festive benefits. Teachers expressed anger, pointing out that their counterparts in Assam under the same SSA scheme have already been regularized, while Tripura continues to remain an exception.

Frustrated voices in social media have emerged, questioning the government’s claims of being “people-friendly” and “employee-friendly.”

Many SSA teachers remarked, “If even private employees are receiving Puja bonuses, why are SSA teachers deprived? Why has the Tripura government failed to regularize us when Assam could do the same? Where have the promises during elections gone?”

Unemployed youths and deprived job-seekers also joined the chorus of criticism, alleging that the BJP had made multiple promises during last tow Assembly elections but has failed to keep them. “The so-called double engine government had made triple promises, regularization of all employees and equal benefits for all. If they made promises, now they must fulfill them,” said a protesting voice.

The controversy has once again highlighted the ongoing discontent among contractual teachers in Tripura, who feel left out of the government’s welfare measures despite repeated assurances.
