TWJA Delegation Meets Tripura CM to Seek Safeguards for Journalists Interests

A delegation of the Tripura Working Journalists Association (TWJA) on Tuesday met Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the state secretariat and submitted a memorandum highlighting the problems faced by journalists across the state.

During the meeting, the delegation drew the Chief Minister’s attention to several key issues concerning the welfare of working journalists. These included demands for appointment letters, structured pay scales, coverage under ESI and other facilities for journalists working in both print and electronic media.

The memorandum also urged the government to simplify the legal provisions related to journalists pension, remove the annual income ceiling, and ensure that all journalists are brought under the pension scheme. Additionally, the delegation sought priority-based housing schemes for homeless journalists.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the government would take necessary steps to address the genuine problems raised.

The TWJA delegation comprised President Bijoy Pal, General Secretary Sunil Debnath, Joint Secretary Mihir Lal Sarkar, Treasurer Subhash Ghosh, and Executive Member Tanmoy Banik.
