NCC police station holds pre-puja meeting with representatives of clubs

The New Capital Complex (NCC) police station authority today held a pre-puja preparatory meeting with representatives of various clubs under the jurisdiction of the police station to ensure that the upcoming four-day ‘Durga Puja’ festival passes off peacefully without any untoward incident. The presidents and secretaries of twenty five clubs that organise community ‘Durga Puja’ attended the meeting to discuss their preparation as well as the details of their celebration.

The team of police officers of the NCC police station headed by SDPO Subrata Barman and officer in charge Prajit Malakar attended the meeting . Addressing the assembled presidents and secretaries of the clubs the SDPO Subrata Barman explained the list of ‘dos and do nots’ in regard to ‘Durga Puja’ celebration as per government ‘s code of conduct . Making an appeal to the club representatives to maintain peace and harmony SDPO Subrata Barman specially explained to them the regulations on noise pollution which has become a menace to public order over the past few years .

“There are orders passed by various high courts as well as by the supreme court specifying a 65 decibel limit and we are law-bound to enforce this ; this is festival time and we do not mean to be harsh in our action ; hence we appeal to you to keep the noise level within the limits of what the judiciary has dictated; I leave this to you and , in addition , please maintain the highest level of discipline so that every one can enjoy the festivities in a spirit of happiness” said Subrata Barman. He also urged upon the club representatives to be considerate and humane in the matter of collection of subscription for the ‘Durga Puja’ so that no complaint of coercion or extortion comes to the police.

Sources said that the club representatives assured the NCC police station authority of their full co-operation and willingness to comply with all the norms. The club representatives also expressed happiness over the positive discussion. All other police stations will also hold discussions with club authorities within their areas of jurisdiction.
