As the rest of the subdivision the Bishalgarh subdivisional hospital seems to have turned into a permanently disturbed areas with doctors and auxiliary health staff including nurses gleefully indulging in dereliction of duty. This has come to the fore yet again from the inexplicable death of a patient within moments of being injected with medicine that perhaps was not compatible with the condition of the patient.
Sources from Bishalgarh said that yesterday in the evening a patient identified as Jibon Das (32) from Das para in Dakshin Brajapur village had been admitted to the hospital with high fever. He was accompanied by his old mother. After the doctor in the hospital had given him medicine his fever had a remission but around 5-30 PM the doctor had pushed two successive injections into the patient’s body and within moments the patient Jibon Das breathed his last . His mother started screaming in agony, asserting that his son had died from wrong injection given him . As the situation threatened to spiral out of control police personnel arrived from the Bishalgarh police station and tackled the situation that had worsened by the shouting of other relatives of Jibon who had reached the hospital by then .However, deceased Jibon Das’s mother is yet to file a formal complaint against the hospital doctor.
In yet another incident of mishandling of treatment of patients, a lady named Dipti Debnath (34) had come to the hospital with a complaint on July 29and was advised by the doctor to have her blood tested . Dipti followed the advice and got her blood tested in a private laboratory and her blood group was identified as AB+ but when the she went again to the hospital she had to have her blood tested in the hospital at the instance of the hospital and her group was found to be O+ . This raised doubts afresh in the minds of Dipti Debnath and her family members and with permission of the doctor she underwent another test of her blood and this time she was found to be carrying the blood group of AB+ which had been identified earlier by the private laboratory . Dipti’s treatment ensued in the hospital after the second blood test but this has created serious misgivings in the minds of patients over the efficacy of treatment and tests in the Bishalgarh hospital.
