The chief minister Dr Manik Saha today met the various ‘Samajpatis’ of Tripura’s tribal communities for a discussion on the introduction of customary law in the state. The Samajpatis who met the chief minister to discuss the issue belong to the Reang, Mog, Tripura and Murasing communities. They had come to draw the chief minister’s attention to the fact that while the customary law of the Jamatya community had already been codified and introduced , the same set of customary laws for the Reang, Tripura, Mog and Murasing communities are yet to be introduced even though they have already been codified way back in 2019 and cleared by the ADC.
Dr Saha patiently listened to their pleas and gave them an assurance that he will do whatever is needed to expedite matters on this sensitive issue. He also cordially welcomed the ‘Samajpatis’ and asserted that interactions like this pave the way for a more inclusive and harmonious society, strengthening mutual respect and a healthy ethnic bonding in the society of Tripura.
