Remorseful youth commits suicide, posting comments in ‘Facebook’, because of illicit liaison with friend’s mother

The world has achieved a massive leap forward with revolutionary development in science and technology over the past three decades but the human cost of the phenomenon also seems to be colossal, as reflected in the near total breakdown of social and familial values. What was unimaginable in terms of relationship and interaction, specially at the carnal level, seems to have become the new normal in societal life. Nothing illustrates the point better than the heart-wrenching suicide of a healthy and handsome youth from sheer shame and remorse because of his illicit relationship down to carnal level with the mother of his friend. He committed suicide after posting a detailed comment in the social media giant ‘Facebook’, giving detailed reasons for ending his life.

Sources said that Prasenjit Shil (23), a resident of Chatterjee colony in Charilam and a graduate by education, had developed illicit relationship with the mother of his friend two years ago. Gradually Prasenjit realized that what he had been doing was highly immoral and socially disgraceful. Of late he had started trying to break out of the relationship by convincing his paramour, the mother of his friend. But the lady was determined not to let go of her relationship and illegitimate interaction with Prasenjit and threatened to expose him with video clips she had taken of their liaison. Unnerved by what might happen in case of exposure and scared of what might happen to himself and his family at the social level, Prasenjit decided to put an end to his agony by committing suicide. He posted a detailed and extremely remorseful comment in ‘Facebook’ as a confession and then poisoned himself to death. Police sources refused to disclose the names of Prasenjit’s friend and the latter’s adulterous mother but said that the suicide of young Prasenjit has cast a shadow of grief and mourning in entire Charilam area under Bishalgarh police station.
