Tripura Showcases TRLM, SHG, PM Vishwakarma Yojana & Smart Village Model Success at National Conference

Tripura’s grassroots governance model, particularly from Dhalai district, highlighted in indias best practices national conference held in Odisha during the National Conference on Good Governance Practices held in Sambalpur, Odisha on July 16–17. Organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the event brought together senior officials and experts from across India to present state-level best practices.

Representing Tripura, Tarit Kanti Chakma, former District Magistrate of Gomati, and Presently CEO of TRLM and and Saiju Vaid, former District Magistrate of Dhalai district and presently CEO of Tripura Health Mission (NHM), shared key initiatives developed during their earlier tenures as District Magistrates in Gomati and Dhalai district.

The duo highlighted impactful governance practices implemented exclusively in Gomati and Dhalai, including the strengthening of TRLM and SHG networks, implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the rollout of SANKALPA II, and development of Smart Villages equipped with waste segregation centres in Dhalai District. These initiatives addressed tough geographical and socio-economic challenges in the region, focusing on inclusive development and women’s empowerment.

Their convergence, driven approach enabled over 7,000 women artisans and traditional workers to benefit from skill training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and housing under PMAY-G.

The presentation took place in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, during a special session on best governance practices across Indian states.

Tripura’s Dhalai-based model was highlighted for its innovation, replicability, and on-ground impact, positioning the state as a frontrunner in grassroots level transformative governance.
