As reported in advance by this web portal, BJP MLA Kishore Barman was sworn in this afternoon around 1-30 PM as the twelfth and last minister of Tripura cabinet-as per constitutional mandate by 91st amendment on maximum strength of state cabinets-in Raj Bhawan. The governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new inductee in the state cabinet . Almost the entire cabinet including the chief minister Dr Manik Saha attended the swearing in ceremony in Raj Bhawan where the BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee and other stalwarts of the party were also present along with seniormost officials including the chief secretary J.K.Sinha.
Having been formally sworn in as minister Kishore Barman conveyed his thanks and gratitude to the chief minister for inducting him in the cabinet and other ministers as well as party colleagues. While speaking to media persons at the end of the swearing in Kishore also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the chief minister , party’s national president and state president as well as prime minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for his induction. “But for their faith in me I would not have been sworn in today ; I will do my best to honour the trust reposed in me by the chief minister and prime minister” said Kishore. Refusing to speculate on the portfolio that may be allocated to him, Kishore said that it is the ‘prerogative’ of the chief minister and whatever portfolio is allocated to him he will work hard in a dedicated manner. He also declined comments on the appointment of the new state president. “These are matters to be decided by the highest leadership of the party; I have no comment to offer in this regard” said Kishore.
Born into a poor family in Nalchhar area of Sonamura subdivision , Kishore Barman had his education in Tripura and had obtained his master degree in Bengali language and literature from Tripura university in the year 2004. As a dedicated RSS man from his student days Kishore worked very hard for BJP in West Bengal and achieved great success in the party’s victory in a number of Loksabha seats in north Bengal as the main organizer in the year 2019. Within a short time however he was deputed to Tripura to work for the organization. In the state assembly election of 2023 Kishore Barman was nominated for the Nalchhar (SC) seat which he won quite handsomely and has been an MLA since then. He is also scheduled to be married soon and many of his friends and well wishers jocularly described his induction in the ministry as a pre-marital gift.
