A man suspected of being a vegetable thief was lynched to death at Manu area in Dhalai District

Suspense prevailed in Manu Police Station areas of Dhalai District over the recovery of an unknown dead body on Monday last from a vegetable field, suspected to be a victim of public lynching. Police registered a murder case and are investigating the matter.

The body was found in the bank of the River Manu near the Manu rail bridge on Monday morning. Local people first noticed the body and informed the Fire and Emergency services, who recovered the body. It was declared dead after being taken into the hospital.

The body have multiple mark of injuries. Police suspects that the youth was a victim of lyncing seeing the nature of the injuries. It is suspected that the youth was lynched by local farmers suspecting him as a vegitabler thief. People in the area were very much worried over increasing trend of vegitable theft cases.
