Tidbits of prime minister's visit left untouched
By Our Correspondent

Agartala, February 10, 2019: In the tsunami of media
coverage over the Prime Minister Narendra Modi;'s visit to the state yesterday a
significant point did not figure out prominently. The inaugurations done by the
prime minister-IIIT building within TIT campus, Garzi-Belonia railway line and
the statue of state's last king 'Maharaja' Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya-also
included a book authored by the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb. The book
entitled 'Adhunik Tripurar Shilpakar Maharaja Bir Bikram' (Bir Bikram, the artist
who conceived modern Tripura). This book, written for the first time by a
politician of the state on a royal personality, dwells on the life and
achievements of 'Maharaja' Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and his contribution to
the state.
In a fine gesture the Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled
the book on the dais yesterday to loud cheers from the considerable crowd.
Apart from this, the selection of the day of meeting yesterday was probably not
very right, considering it was a day of festivity based on 'Saraswati Puja' and
the fact that large number of people from south Tripura remained stuck in
stations to see the Garzi-Belonia railway carriage roll into the bordering
Belonia town. Be that as it may-the prime minister will come yet again in the run-up to the loksabha polls.
