Speculation rife over nomination, final announcement in Delhi, Ram Madhav leaves state today

Agartala March 14,2019 : Even though the left front, as usual, has already declared its nominations for the upcoming loksabha polls without any hiccup, speculation is rife in state politics over the likely nomination profile of ruling BJP and opposition Congress. The PCC president Pradyot Kishore has already held the initial round of discussions with the party's all India president Rahul Gandhi over the nominations ,things will be clear only after the AICC makes final announcement in a day or two. Sources in Congress said that names of former PCC presidents Birajit Sinha, Gopal Roy and former chief minister Samir Ranjan Barman figure in the list of probable candidates for the West Tripura seat. For the East Tripura however the PCC president himself is considered the best contender but he  is reluctant to enter the fray himself and is more interested in sponsoring an independent , veteran tribal leader with Congress support. But party spokesman Tapas De said that the final shape of nominations would be decided by the AICC president.

But the most significant development is that ruling BJP's bilateral talks with the coalition partner IPFT is still deadlocked over the sharing of seats despite two days of talks held by party's all India general secretary Ram Madhav with his coalition counterparts. Sources in the BJP said that BJP would contest both the seats of the loksabha and on that count there would be no compromise but other conditions set by IPFT in regard to tribal politics within the state considered as far as practicable. 'They may have raised demands like the  an additional ministerial portfolio and all the 28 elective seats in the ADC, elections to which is scheduled to be held next year and our leadership will have to take a call on this; there will be another round of discussion today also before Ram Madhavji  returns' said sources.  They added that several names were doing the rounds for nomination in both the seats but the final decision would be announced by the party's parliamentary board.

Now, IPFT leaders will meet with Dy. Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma at his official residence in Agartala today evening.
