Six 'Eklavya' schools to come up in Tripura, one college

Agartala June 12 ,2019 : Tripura is all set to have six more 'Eklavya' schools meant for tribal students as per information given by the minister for tribal welfare Mebar Kumar Jamatya. While interacting with the media yesterday in state secretariat Jamatya said that Centre has recently informed the state government of the sanction of six more 'Eklavya' schools out of which four will be set up this year and two more later. This will be followed up by the launching of an 'Eklavya' college. 

Jamatya said that the state government is currently in the process of selecting sites for the schools and the matter of college will be considered later. Apart from this, the state government is preparing to launch a three-storied  hostel for tribal students at Shillong at a cost of Rs 10 crores but the Centre has sanctioned only Rs 3.5 crores for the purpose. In additional hostels for tribal students will also be built at Bengaluru and New Delhi with one hundred seats each . 

But the matter of financial sanction is not yet decided. Mebar said that during the past twenty five years the left front had set up four 'Eklavya' schools in Rajnagar, Kumarghat, Birchandra Manu and Bhuratoli but already the current BJP-IPFT government is preparing to set  up altogether 18 schools in the 'Eklavya' category and out this six will come up shortly. 
Mebar said that sites for six 'Eklavya' schools selected are at Hezamara in Sadhar (north), Gabordi in Jampui Jala, Killa in Udaipur, Manikpur in Chhawmanu, Kulukma in Amarpur and Kachucherra in Ambassa.
