Manik condemns BJP's politics of Hindutva and attempt to destroy the constitution

Agartala, December 7, 2018: After independence, the country is passing through most serious crisis situation and people from all walks life should strengthen their agitation against misrule of the union government and communal politics of fundamentalist forces, said former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Speaking in a mass gathering of Left front workers and supporters in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Thursday during their observance of 'safeguarding day of constitution and secularism', Sarkar said that ruling BJP has  now understood that ensuing 2019 general election would be tougher for them and people of the country  understand their poll publicity stunt.

Highlighting the then situation of Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, Sarkar alleged that fundamentalist forces like VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal are now trying to destroy the constitutional spirit of the country by instigating people in the name of religion.

"The present of government of the country are not ready to accept the secular characteristic of the country, instead they are trying to make the nation through Hindutva, which is against the true spirit of Hinduism", said Sarkar. He claimed that ruling BJP just before the elections often tried to give priority to Hindutva and communal polarization in the name of religion and create communal hatred among different communities of the country.

Sarkar claimed that during four and half years rule of Narendra Modi led BJP government, they betrayed the people of the country and they are still unable to fulfill single of their poll promises, which were made before general elections of 2014.

The decisions like demonetization and other anti-farmer policies have deteriorated the conditions of farmers and working classes of the country, said Sarkar adding that now government interfering the functioning of autonomous bodies to enforce their choices.

They have been interfering and undermining the constitutional republican and parliamentary democracy of the country, said Sarkar and claimed that centre are also interfering the rights of state.

Since March last, the divisive forces are now destroying the peaceful atmosphere of the state, but now common people are also strengthen their movement against agrarian and anti-people role of the both governments.

Sarkar reiterated that all left democratic forces are determined to strengthen their movement with an aim to defeat the divisive forces to protect constitution of the country.

He also appealed to the people to raise the voices against communal hatred policies of fundamentalist forces. During the protest rally, other Left Front leaders along with top CPI (M) leaders were also present.
