MHA approves relaxation in SC/ST qualification for recruitment in IR battalions

Agartala, February 22, 2019:  The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given the approval for relaxation in minimum educational qualification for SC and ST candidates for recruitment for the Indian Reserve (IR) Battalions in TSR.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb , while speaking with media persons on Thursday evening said that the Central government has set new qualification guideline across the country, which was minimum 10th pass for recruitment in IR battalion. But, in the case of Tripura, the state government are facing some problems for recruit of large number  of ST and SC candidates, said Deb adding that with plea for relaxation he had earlier met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh twice and also applied for it in written.

On Thursday, the MHA has approved the request of the state government and now candidates from SC and ST community with eight pass qualification can applied for the job of TSR for two IR battalions, said Deb.

Aaltogether 2014 personnel will recruit for two battalions of IR with compulsory 10 % reservation for women candidates, said Deb adding that among the total 2014 posts of TSR, 25 % posts would be fill up from other states of the country and rest 75 % posts to be filled from the candidates of state’s domicile.

Expressing his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh , Deb said that today’s relaxation will explore more job opportunities for ST youths of the state.

Under Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme , so far a total 62,000 applications from state’s farmers has been received and government is hoping that  during February 18 to February 26 more 4 to 5 lakh applications would be received for direct transfer of Rs. 6000 every year to small and marginal farmers as per announcement of interim budget of union government, said Deb. He also said that Tripura is the second state after Assam, where farmers would get the maximum benefit under the scheme.  During the press meet Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia was also present.
