Agartala, January 11, 2019: The Left Front in Tripura also demanded for judicial enquiry by sitting judge of High Court on the January 8 violence by NESO protestors and subsequently police firing on picketers, resulting in six supporters of Twipra Students Federation (TSF), the student wing of INPT, sustaining bullet injuries.

Addressing a press conference here at CPI (M) headquarters on Friday morning, Left Front convener Bijan Dhar said that during the January 8th Bandh by CITU and ten other trade unions, the TSF under the banner of NESO also observed 11 hours Northeast Bandh protesting Citizenship Amendment Bill. But, police had to resort to lathi charge, water cannon firing, bursting tear gas cells and finally they fired on the protestors, asked Dhar.

"TSF supporters organized the demonstration democratically, but a group of ruling BJP from outside instigated violence at Madhavbari area under Jirania, which escalated the violence", claimed Dhar adding that as a result 20 persons sustained injuries.

"After the state sponsored violence in Mdhabbari, a panic like situation prevails across the state, especially a fear psychosis has gripped people of minority community", alleged Dhar, adding that Left Front condemn the incident and claimed it as ‘state sponsored violence’.

He also claimed that two cabinet ministers of the state are hiding the fact of the incident by supporting the state sponsored violence by claiming a conspiracy framed by opposition CPI (M), which is totally baseless and an attempt to tarnish the image of CPI (M).

They demanded proper compensation to all victim persons and stringent punishment to all persons, who were responsible for the violence.
