The lone water palace of northeast, Neer Mahal, is situated on this lake and one of the major tourist attractions of the region. Once spread over an area of 17 squire Kilometer the lake is now covering an area of only five squire Km and the  depth of the lake also reduced more than half.

Large part of the water body turned dry due to long negligence and not taking any care by the government. Some people occupied the lands and was cultivating paddy. On various occasion the central government has approved projects to protest and develop the lake and the palace which was said to have spent but the denigration of the lake continues.
