CT Scan facility suffering at IGM hospital

Agartala, Sept 10 2019: Deteriorating healthcare services continue to hunt patients with IGM Hospital, state's second referral hospital failing to provide CT Scan facility for the 24 hours.

After a long battle, a CT Scan machine was formally inaugurated at IGM Hospital for critical patients on August 19. But shortage of radiologist appears a major problem to provide CT Scan facility to the patents.

One trained Radiologist cum Doctor is running the show while two more Radiologists are required to provide SC scan facility to the patients round the clock. After having trained in radiology, a physician returned to the state but he was engaged in Regional Cancer Hospital.

Currently, CT Scan facility is available at IGM Hospital from 9 am to 4 pm. When contacted, Medical Super Dr. Radha Debbarma said one doctor who have got trained in radiology is not enough to run the machine for 24 hours! "We need at least three Radiologiststo open the service for 24x7. However, in some cases, we called up concern doctor to conduct CT Scan beyond the working time of the hospital", she added.
