Agartala, March 15, 2019: After alleged attacks at the Dukli subdivisional office of CPI (M) by some miscreants during a meeting, opposition CPI (M) lodged complaints before the Election Commission of India (ECI) and  urged the commission for police action.

CPI (M)also  lodged a specific FIR at Amtali police station alleging attack on the Dukli CPI (M) office by some BJP supporters carried.

However, police sources said that after the receiving of complaint they immediately rushed to the spot on Thursday, but denied any as such incident, even though FIR was lodged against over 50 to 60 persons. Police admitted that a brief scuffles were held with personal guard (PG) of former MLA Ramu Das and another police ASI Koushik Baidya, a special branch (SB) person and husband of Rajya Sabha MP Jharna Das Baidya. Later, Kaushik Baidya was admitted at GB Hospital with injuries.

SDPO(Amtali) Ajay kumar Das speaking with media persons admitted that they received the FIR against some youths including five identified supporters of BJP and stated that the matter is under investigation. "If we find any person involved with alleged attack during preliminary investigation, then legal action would be taken against them", said SDPO Das.

CPI(M) Dukli subdivisional committee secretary Narayan Deb and MP Sankar Prasad Datta alleged that on Thursday morning during their subdivisional committee meeting, a group of miscreants started stone pelting targeting their party office and attacks two CPI(M) leaders Pramila Dey and Abul Hussain, when they were proceeding towards party office.

They also alleged that in presence of police personnel miscreants continued their stone pelting and claimed that the incident once again reflect that in Tripura there is no-democracy and goons of ruling party are continuing their attacks on opposition supporters to suppress the voices of common people.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) state secretary Goutam Das in his written complaints to CEO and ECI alleged that, this is not the first ever attack carried on this office by the BJP workers after assembly election results and in earlier attacks properties of the Dukli office were ransacked by several mischief-mongers belonging to ruling party. Every time, there were written complaints lodged to the police station but the police had hardly taken any step to stop such hooliganism, alleged Das.

"Now that the Model Code of Conduct is enforced by ECI, we would only hope that you would apply your authority to direct appropriate police authority to arrest the alleged persons mentioned in the complaints so that people’s apprehension about the fairness of the ensuing parliament poll may be removed", said Das.
