CPI (M) initiative to recover base in Khowai , Manik enthuses party leaders and workers

Agartala September 12 ,2019 : The CPI (M) has set in motion a process of recovering its lost support base in its traditional areas of influence which it lost in the last assembly election . With any eye to this larger goal the leader of the opposition and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar yesterday visited the Khowai subdivisional town and held a prolonged meeting with the members and office bearers of Khowai subdivisional committee as well as Khowai divisional committee of the party. Apart from this, leaders of various front organizations of the party including the Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) were also present in the meeting . During his meeting and visit to the subdivision Manik was accompanied by four other senior leaders of the party. 

In the last assembly election the CPI (M) had been able to win only one seat in the subdivision , the Khowai town seat where the party's nomiee Niramal Biswas defeated his CPI (M) rival Amit Rakshit but all other seats were lost to BJP and IPFT. Describing this debacle as 'temporary setback' Manik Sarkar tried the inspirit the party leaders to shake off their frustration and inertia and to come out on streets with programmes in public interest . He said that the time has come for the party to launch its normal political programme to protect the interests of the people . He also laid stress on further streamlining the organization to tone up the fight for people , while suggesting some concrete measures on strengthening the organizational network. In the meeting Manik was accompanied by senior leaders, Bijan Dhar, Aghore Debbarma, Gautam Das, Kowai district CPI (M) secretary Ranjit Debbarma and sitting Khowai MLA Nirmal Biswas.

When contacted for comment on proceedings in the meeting , MLA Nirmal Biswas said that it was an internal meeting of the party on organisatioal matters . 'I can not disclose what all were discussed and decided upon to the media ; we will try hard to strengthen the party and its organisation' said Nirmal Biswas .
