BSF jawan commits suicide by firing from his service rifle

Agartala, March 15, 2019: A BSF jawan posted at Indo-Bangla border areas of Sabroom subdivision committed suicide from his service rifle on duty.

Sources said that the deceased BSF jawan, identified as Jogvinder Singh (51) of 66th battalion of BSF posted at Kathalcherri BOP under Sabroom subdivision and on Thursday morning he along with other jawans left the camp for their watch tower duty at Aliyamara area of Indo-Bangla border.

Suddenly, Jogvinder Singh climb-down from watch tower and fired in his head from his INSUS rifle. Immediately, two other jawans rushed to him and shifted him at Sabroom subdivisional hospital, where visiting doctor declared him brought dead. Later, his body shifted at District hospital in Julaibari for autopsy.

Though Sabroom police station registered an unnatural death case, but denied to say anything on the death of the jawan. When, our reporter contacted with a top official of BSF, claimed that deceased jawan committed suicide from his service rifle and they will investigate the matter.
