Agartala, February 12, 2019: Hundreds of activists of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), the women front of opposition CPI(M) staged a protest rally in Agartala demanding Food Minister Manoj Kanti Deb  suspension and immediate arrest for "touching" his woman colleague in an 'indecent manner' during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally on Saturday.

The women activists also demanded immediate step by Chief Minister on the incident.

However, addressing a press conference here at CPI(M) headquarters on Monday evening, Left Front convener Bijan Dhar said that Minister Manoj Kanti Deb must be sacked and be arrested for touching the woman minister in an extremely indecent manner on the stage from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor and other ministers of the state were present.

The incident appeared publicly on various social media that Deb put his hand on the waist of Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, a young tribal leader of BJP, said Dhar and alleged that the male Minister has publicly harmed the modesty and dignity of the lone woman Minister of the state at a public platform and claimed that when many young and middle-aged women are being raped, murdered and kidnapped after the BJP-IPFT government came to power, the latest incident on a public platform is extremely  a act of indecency. The Tripura Left Front committee demanded immediate suspension of minister and his arrest for his índecent act.

Mentioning the recent attacks on their MLAs and leaders in different parts of the state, Dhar alleged that before the ensuing Lok Sabha elections the ruling party is trying to immovable the opposition party and they would lodged complaint before the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The ruling party since last 11 months has been continuing their large-scale violence on CPI(M) workers and leaders, now elected representatives were also unable to continue their political activities, alleged Dhar.  He also alleged that Prime Minister's Saturday rally was total flopped and PM uttered only falsehood to suppress the misrule of both state and central governments. During the press meet other LF leaders were also present.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee, said that the Left Front, after rising up non-issues against the BJP government, has now started character assassination of BJP ministers on false and minor issues. Bhattacharjee also said that the woman minister has never made any statement and complaint on the issue raised by the Left parties and asked  why are the Left parties doing dirty politics.
